So the Leaving Cert results came out yesterday and one chap managed to get 9 A1s! He is one of 149 pupils that got the maximum of 600 points. Feck me like, that must take a fair bit of effort.

I remember the day of my results, it was about 3 o’clock before I went in to collect them granted I went on the piss afterwards. I had spent the morning working. I wasn’t going for any particular points although I had set myself a target that if I got I would be happy with. I failed to get that target but only by 10 points.

My main problem was I just hated studying, I couldn’t sit down for a full minute without finding something that might need to be done. Also I did all Pass bar one and without that one my points total would have been a lot lower. I knew what I had to do to pass, and that’s all I did do.

I would spent the evening before exams playing games of soccer with my mates who weren’t doing exams, afterwards I do a quick revision. Don’t even think I would do all that much in the morning, it was a case of “Fuck it, I either know by now or I don’t” and go away and have a fag before it started. We actually went for a pint in between some exams.

I passed everyone of the exams I sat in the leaving and in the Junior cert, ok maybe I could have done a few more Honours, but fuck that like…

The night of the results I celebrated as much as the guy that got 500 points. Everyone has got their level, some maybe aim too high and miss out and if you don’t worry, there is always away around.

And to those 149 students, fair play to ye.
